Mind Inside Nature

“Mind Inside Nature” is a series of 12 inch by 12 inch color etchings. The prints are composed at the press using a selection of 9 copper plates. The composition of one plate is printed on top of the next, interconnecting many plates to form a whole. Compositions are explored and rendered at the press by deciding, at the moment, which plate of lines and graphics converse in balance with the elements from previous plates. The lengthy process requires both highly technical collaboration and planning with a master printer and pure intuitive chance, luck, and surprise. The aim is to find equilibrium between abstract elements in a defined space. There is infinite possibility of success or disaster both technically and aesthetically in this controlled chaos.
